Is it possible for a toddler to outgrow their clumsiness?

Asked a year ago

I have noticed that my toddler is quite clumsy and easily trips or falls while playing. I am wondering if this is something they will eventually outgrow or if it is likely to continue into their childhood and beyond. Is there something I can do to help my child improve their balance and coordination?

It is absolutely normal for a toddler to be ‘clumsy’ and regularly fall or trip while playing or walking. At this age they are still forming movement patterns within their developing brain, and learning how to coordinate their different muscles and joints. Fun yet challenging activities such as playing hopscotch, balancing on one leg, walking along tape on the ground like a ‘tightrope’, or rolling a ball back and forth between you and your child can all help to improve their coordination and balance.
